# GPUBank vs Salad (SaladCloud)

> Salad (SaladCloud) is run by Salad Technologies, Inc., founded in 2018, and runs customer containers on idle consumer GPUs in homes and small businesses, a distributed network of third-party nodes. It has no H100 or other data-center GPU on its self-serve product; its RTX 4090 costs $0.33 per GPU-hour at High priority and $0.16 at Lowest, against $0.23 on demand at GPUBank. Salad wins on consumer-card range and horizontal scale; GPUBank rents data-center GPUs, multi-GPU instances and persistent disks.

## Verdict

**Cheap consumer cards at scale on Salad. Data-center GPUs and persistent disks at GPUBank.**

Salad suits stateless, retry-tolerant inference and batch jobs that fit in 32 GB of VRAM and scale out across many replicas. Every node sits on a residential or small-business connection, the docs put node reliability at 90 to 95 %, and local state is lost on reallocation. GPUBank is cheaper on demand for the RTX 4090 and RTX 5090, while Salad's Lowest tier undercuts GPUBank's interruptible RTX 5090 rate. For H100, H200, B200, A100 or more than one GPU per instance, Salad's self-serve product has no offer.

Score over 28 points: GPUBank ahead on 6, even on 13, Salad (SaladCloud) ahead on 9.

## Questions

### Is Salad cheaper than GPUBank for an RTX 4090?

Not on demand. Salad charges $0.33 per GPU-hour for an RTX 4090 at High priority and $0.16 at Lowest, where it can be preempted. GPUBank charges $0.23 on demand, with a persistent disk option, IPv4 and traffic included, and 40 % less on interruptible instances.

### Does Salad have H100 or A100 GPUs?

Not on its self-serve Community Cloud, which tops out at 32 GB of VRAM and one GPU per instance. Salad Dedicated sells RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell servers by quote. GPUBank rents B200, H200, H100, A100, L40S and MI300X on demand, up to 8 GPUs per instance.

### Does Salad accept crypto?

Yes. Salad takes USDC, USDT and RENDER on Solana through a Phantom or Solflare wallet, for purchases of $5 to $10,000, as well as cards. GPUBank takes Bitcoin, USDT, Ethereum and more than a dozen other coins, and no cards.

### How reliable are Salad GPUs?

Salad nodes are consumer PCs on residential and small-business connections. Its docs put individual node reliability at 90 to 95 % and advise several replicas with retry logic. Salad publishes no SLA for Community Cloud; GPUBank targets 99.9 % monthly per region in its terms.

### Can I keep data on a Salad instance?

No. Container state is ephemeral and lost on reallocation, and there is no persistent volume product. S4 storage is free but limited to 100 MB files kept 30 days. GPUBank persistent disks survive a stop and cost $0.03 per GB-month.

### Are these prices with or without VAT?

Without. Every price on this page excludes VAT and sales tax, for Salad (SaladCloud) and for GPUBank, so the two columns compare like for like. Tax is added at checkout according to where the buyer is based.
